
Employment Projections for 2006-2016 are currently available for Texas and the 28 Workforce Development Areas (WDAs). Projections estimate change in industry and occupation employment resulting from industry growth or decline, impact of technology, and changing business practices. Tables are provided showing (1) industry and occupation employment projections for base-year 2006 projected to 2016, (2) growth due to largest number change and (3) fastest growth rates, (4) occupations with the most projected annual average job openings, and (5) occupations with training assignments and 2007 wages.
Before viewing the employment projections, read the Projections Methodology which provides an overview of the process used to prepare the employment projections.
Using 11 education and training categories, the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics has assigned over 800 occupations education and training needed to become proficient in that occupation. Occupational Wages and Projections for Texas and the WDAs list various aspects of hourly and annual wages, 10-year employment projections, and annual average job openings.
Occupational Profiles by WDA are detailed narrative descriptions listing characteristics of occupations, labor market outlook, and requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The Interactive Industry-Occupation Matrix presents for Texas and the WDAs typical staffing by industry i.e. occupations within industry with occupation employment projections and wages.
Texas and LWDA Short Term Forecasts provide industry employment forecasts for each year 2008 through 2012. Forecasts include data at the 3 digit NAICS level.
